The Hardrock Challenge 2008

Sunday the 5th October and once again Dumrfies and Galloway Raynet were in action in the Dalbeattie Forest this year assisting the organisers of the Hardrock Challenge with safety communications. This years team consisted of John MM0GOF and Neil 2M0NEO in control at the Richorn car park with Ellis GM0HPK running mobile on his trail bike (this year without stabilisers!!!!) and the rest of the crew were scattered about the course at strategic points.

The motley bunch was as follows; GM3OXK at R1 and C1, MM0KBT and Mrs MM0KBT at C2 and Talk Through, 2M0WUL at C3, David G8UVE and Mrs G8UVE at R2 and C4, Malc M0MKC at C7, MM1BHO with MM3PBQ at C9, Jim 2M0JWL at C10, Kevin MM3RBF at R3 and C12, Allan MM3UJQ at R9 and C14 and Jim MM3OYW with the mobile EFAR unit, Jim GM4NTL was lurking somewhere about but not too sure where. The event starts with the runners first so the initial checpoints are designated as "R", once the runner has got back to the start point the cyclists can set of so all the checkpoints become "C" the weather on the day was fantastic and the event went well with no major injuries.
